I just found that the interface to AXFR has also changed completely. Apart from the backwards compatibility issue, which is more difficult to patch around here than for sep/is_sep), I have two questions:

1) Without the concluding SOA record, how do I tell if the server sent me the whole zone or stopped in the middle?

2) Returning all RRs in a single list rather than giving me one at a time increases memory usage *a lot* for large zones. We have at least one application that does work on all 1.3 million records of .se, and while I have not yet done any measurements, it’s memory-constrained on its machine today and I’m pretty sure this change will make it unable to run at all. Suggestions?
